Spectrum Partners is a well-respected hedge fund management and advisory group formed in 2002, which invests in emerging markets with a strong focus on Russia and the frontier markets of the Former Soviet Union.

The process of manually producing one page fund reports using an InDesign template soon gave way to a custom tailored solution which automated these documents, increasing the total production speed while reducing the error rate in the creation chain.

Using ReportLab software at its core, the system is based on a Python framework to render the PDF reports from a MySQL database, including dynamic calculations based on the NAV and market indices. The beauty of ReportLab solutions lies in their freedom of scalability, and the system is now responsible for producing 10 monthly reports maintained by separate fund managers across Europe.
